polaroids + collage = trampoline
Kim from Trampoline originally created her polaroid collages as a way to use her overexposed and underexposed (or expired) film. But what they have become is so much more as she explains, they are "studies in color, hue, texture and nuance. Bits and pieces of everyday life."These collages are limited edition pieces. They are not prints, but one of a kind, signed and dated. She also will create a custom piece for you, just convo her at her etsy shop.ethanollie.etsy.comLabels: affordable art, polaroids

old zinc and tin
Loving these old zinc trays and baskets from Rockett St. George. With vintage typewriter font labels, they come in "storage", "mail" and "letter". Polka dot umbrella from here and tin cutlery pots here. Love that charcoal grey door!

lavender sachets from la pomme
Made from beautiful vintage white cotton, and a backing of vintage printed floral cotton, these sachets from France's La Pomme, are filled with sweet-smelling organic lavender flowers from France. They are then hand-stamped with nature images and words.

new recycled notebooks!
Fiona from Cartolina Cards sent over images of her new recycled notebooks, and even though we just also saw them on Design Sponge today, we thought we just had to post about them too. So if you're seeing them twice today, lucky you! We love them, because of the colors (and the reds are just matching our new color scheme so well), along with the fact that magnolia's just happen to be our favourite, favourite spring blossom ever (which can't come soon enough we say)! You can email Fiona at info{at}cartolinacards{dot}com to find out where they are available.Labels: eco, papergoods, recycled

guitar home
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mathomas/489391845I came across this awesome moleskine sketch by Mike Thomas on flickr tonight which got me thinking about our own guitar pile situation and how each time I think about how to display these things (as we have no choice - there is just no more closet space left) I keep coming up empty. If we had a music room, it would be easy I think, I'd just hang them all on the wall. But since we don't and the only option is the living room I thought, other people must have this dilema as well, no? So why not start a flickr group titled Guitar Home? Anyone? Upload your guitar displays in your home, share your ideas, inspire us! We'd love to see! Can a place look good with lots of guitars in the mix? Click here to join and upload!

misprinted type v4
It was a nice surprise to see a new version of Misprinted Type this week when I happened to stop by. After three years of working on new typefaces and several site layouts, Recife offers up a ton of new stuff from commercial typefaces (see Handmade above), to free fonts (which we posted about back in 2005) along with a couple new ones. And some lovely brushes as well. Be sure, as with his other site versions, to click around the background of his site, for secret messages and goodies. Misprinted Type Version 4.0 here.Labels: fonts

Special Guest Post: by Ladies and Gentlemen
Light bulbs: You light up my life Dylan and Jean here again from Ladies and Gentlemen…We know we should be replacing all of our bulbs with compact fluorescents, but we can't help but be enticed by the glorious forms of vintage incandescents…the intricate filaments, the beautifully diverse shapes, the packaging... Our bulb love began when we came across these unique projector bulbs (complete with original packaging too…). Until we come up with some awesome way to use them (maybe a giant hanging lamp!), they're piled up in our glass bowl for simple display. We gathered some cute everyday light bulbs with great packaging for our L&G Vintage Shop. Come see! sweet valentine
The work of the late designer/architect, Ettore Sottsass is on exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in Paris now till March 31st, 2009.This Valentine typewriter he designed along with Perry King in 1969 for Olivetti is one of our favorites, (if only they made laptops as sweet as these now). According to Wikipedia, it became the ultimate fashion accessory for the “girl-about-town” of that era.centrepompidou.frLabels: ettore sottsass, typewriters, valentines 08

a new year, a new look and wishes
We’ve always found the new year a great launching pad to hit the reset button. Usually we do an overhaul in the home, cleaning closets, filing papers, and re-arranging furniture. But this year we were inspired to re-design the blog. With inspiration from a few of our favourite artists like the late Margaret Kilgallen, and sites like reformschoolrules.com, I did the graphics and Earl sprinkled his magic coding to make it all happen. We hope you like it!Along with our new look, we have some fresh new plans here this year and hope you'll stick around so we can share them with you! Wishing only good things for you in 2009!Mirror display image from Knack Studio.
